Yes. You can lay self adhesive vinyl planks over tiles as long as the tiles are prepared.  In general the grout lines need to be filled in with self leveling compound or a feather finish skim coat. If you don’t do this preparation the floor will take on the profile of the tiles underneath and so over time the vinyl will take mould into grouted areas in between each tile.

Installation is easy.  For self-adhesive planks you simply peel off the paper and sticking the plank down.

Senso - Hybrid

Yes. Hybrid flooring is more versatile than  laminate flooring. Laminate is not recommended in any area where taps and sinks are in use. Hybrid flooring is a better choice as it offers a waterproof finish.

Vinyl flooring is 100% vinyl all throughout the layer of each plank or tile. Hybrid flooring has a mix of compounds through the layers of the plank or tile.  The quantity, quality and performance of each layer varies depending on the materials used by the manufacturer and the expertise with which these complex flooring products are designed.

Hybrid flooring comes in many different varieties, qualities, life expectancies, wear layers and underlay coatings.  It is a combination of flooring materials made to offer the finished look of a natural timber or stone. Multiple compounds are brought together in the manufacturing process that result in different functions and qualities.  Companies with a long history in floor manufacturing offer the most stable, reliable versions of Hybrid flooring because they are able to create products which are a combination of the best of each of the components being joined together. Just because a flooring product is labelled as Hybrid does not mean it is superior to planks made from 100% vinyl.

No. You don’t need underlay for hybrid flooring because each plank is designed and manufactured with its very own layer of foam backing to make the installation easy.  This makes installation run smoothly and results in a professional finish with added stability.

Yes hybrid flooring is a great option for any room in the home.  It is water resistance and can be laid over tiles as the rigid core provides stability for the plank and results in a smooth finish which transforms the look of old cracked tiles into the look of luxurious timber flooring without the need to have the tiles professional removed. The process of installing hybrid planks offers the benefit of needing less subfloor preparation and a quicker installation as each plank locks into place one after the other.

Senso - Peel and Stick

Yes peel and stick tiles are a great option. When installed inside in any room with the correct floor preparation this is a really great way to change the entire look of any room tile by tile.  People taking on a DIY flooring project for the first time often select peel and stick tiles as they are so easy to handle, trim to size using basic tools, and lift to reposition as you work around a room.  Furniture can be moved around the room as you work because the peel and stick tiles can be walked on straight away.

The price of peel and stick tiles per square meter can vary from $22 to $33 at Bunnings in Australia.  These tiles take longer to install than roll vinyl.

Self stick tiles come with a pressure sensitive glue on the back of the tiles and do not need any more glue added of any kind.  If other glues are added it can cause the pre adhered bond to react and fail.

Peel and stick tiles are water resistant and designed to go in areas where occasional drips of water are promptly wiped up. Unlike carpet tiles the moisture does not penetrate peel and stick tiles.  Drips and spills and can be absorbed with a mop, cleaning cloth or paper towel easily and effortlessly.

Peel and stick vinyl planks and tiles will adhere to ceramic tile providing the correct preparation is completed.  The grout lines need to the filled in, any rough surfaces need to be addressed using self levelling compound or a feather finish skim coat aswel and a correctly applied coat of water based primer If the recommended installation steps are followed peel and stick planks and tiles will stick to tiles just like any other recommended subfloor. The instructions for installation are readily available in store and online.

No. Peel and stick tiles are not designed to be installed in a shower. They are not waterproof and will fail when in an area, either the floor or the walls,  where a shower is operating.
